B&H Equips SBC Volunteers with “The Gift”

New Bible considered one of the most readable translations available today

 

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – June 1, 2005 – Holman Bible Outreach International (HBOI), a ministry of Lifeway Christian Resources, announced today its goal to distribute five million copies of “The Gift,” the Holman Christian Standard Bible New Testament (HCSB NT), in 2005. 

 

To launch the initiative, HBOI will provide 40,000 copies of “The Gift” to volunteers for the door-to-door “Crossover Evangelism Campaign,” on June 18, leading up to the Southern Baptist Convention (SBC) on June 21-22, in Nashville, Tenn.

 

Providing “The Gift” free or at cost to mission projects like the Crossover event fulfills HBOI’s calling to facilitate the translation, production and distribution of affordable Bibles to ministries worldwide.

 

“Our culture needs a healthy infusion of biblical precepts,” says Lifeway President Dr. James T. Draper, Jr. “To support this, we created Holman Bible Outreach International (HBOI) to make the Gospel available to everyone by reducing some of the financial barriers associated with mass distribution.”

 

More than 10,000 volunteers have pledged to participate in the one-day, door-to-door Crossover ministry on June 18.  The event officially launches SBC President Bobby Welch’s  “Everyone Can Kingdom Challenge” to baptize one million people in one year. The “Kingdom Challenge” is the focus of this year’s Southern Baptist Convention.

 

“HBOI’s donation of 40,000 Bibles provides us the resources necessary to make Crossover 2005 a success,” says SBC President Bobby Welch. “This event is part of our calling to fulfill the Great Commission given to us by Christ.”

 

”The Gift” is produced in the Holman Christian Standard Bible translation which debuted in April 2004 and has consistently been ranked in the top five most popular Bible translations with more than two million copies sold.
