NASHVILLE, Tenn (December 16, 2014) – B&H Publishing Group is pleased to announce that “The Measure of Success” by Carolyn McCulley and Nora Shank received the Award of Merit in the Her.meneutics category of the 2015 Christianity Today Book Awards.
Christianity Today’s editorial team picked books that are most likely to shape evangelical life, thought, and culture. The Her.meneutics category was a new category this year. According to their website, they are devoted to what evangelical women think.
TheMeasureOfSuccess_CVRHer.meneutics writer Megan Hill noted about the book, “This book offers a bigger picture, bigger solutions, and wider grace than the typical women-and-work-life-balance conversation. McCulley and Shank lay out a robust theology of work and an engaging historical survey before calling women in all situations to embrace ambition for God’s glory.”
Published in February 2014, “The Measure of Success” provides a blueprint to guide women of all ages—whether married or single, and whether working inside the home or in the marketplace.
American women are currently being encouraged to “lean in” and build their careers, yet Christian women acknowledge there is a faith element to be included in this discussion. McCulley offers an in-depth look at what it means to be a productive, godly woman in the workplace or in the home and suggests guidelines for living a life that glorifies God.
“The issues related to calling, work, and the home are central to all women,” notes B&H Trade Book Publisher, Jennifer Lyell. “Carolyn provides a thoughtful, tangible, and biblical approach to how women can walk in the freedom of who God has called them to be in all the seasons of life.”
Carolyn McCulley has written multiple books in addition to “The Measure of Success” and has written hundreds of articles for publications, including Christianity Today, Boundless.org, and The Washington Post.  She is also a contributor to Sex and the Supremacy of Christ, edited by John Piper and Justin Taylor. Her commentary is found on many blogs including Desiring God, True Woman, The Gospel Coalition, and Christianity Today’s “Her.meneutics.” She is a frequent conference speaker and the founder/owner of Citygate Films LLC, a documentary film production company based near Washington, DC. She is single and the proud aunt of six nieces and nephews.
Nora Shank was born in the suburbs of Washington, D.C., where she was raised with more than a big city idea of work. After several entrepreneurial candy and lemonade stands, she learned how to run a successful catering business before pursuing her love of food and wellness as registered dietitian. She now works as a personal health consultant and resides in Virginia. She is married to Travis and they have two children, Kate and Grant.
