Did you hear about the high school quarterback who set a passing record in the final game of the season but refused to accept the record? His coach and the opponents’ coach talked at the end of the game and the opposing coach told his players not to play defense on the final pass play of the game. A record was set on the play but the quarterback didn’t like how it happened. He decided to call the office that keeps high school football records and asked them not to count the play. The people in the office agreed and he is not listed in the record book.
Would you have done that? For this young man, his integrity was more important than the record. Christians should lead the way as people of integrity. People of integrity do the right thing even when it brings painful results. People of integrity do the right thing even when no one is looking. People of integrity keep their promises. A person of integrity values truth. Paul told the Ephesians to lay aside falsehood and “speak truth each one of you with his neighbor, for we are members of one another.” Ephesians 4:25. (New American Standard Bible).
How are you doing in the integrity department?
Verse to Rehearse
Proverbs 11:3 says, “The integrity of the upright will guide them, But the crookedness of the treacherous will destroy them.” New American Standard Bible
