NASHVILLE, Tenn. (October 6, 2014) —“The Wisdom of Faith,” penned by former Florida State University head coach Bobby Bowden, the winningest coach in NCAA Division 1 football history has made The New York Times best-sellers list, entering at No.9 in the Sports section of the October list.

Throughout August and September, Bobby Bowden embarked on a national book and media tour. On his media tour he appeared on Fox News Channel’s Fox & Friends, ESPN’s Sportscenter and Mike and Mike in the Morning, NFL Network, CBS Sports Radio Network, and was interviewed by Sports Illustrated and other major sports, talk and faith shows throughout the nation.
In addition, Bobby Bowden has been meeting and encouraging fans through multiple book signings in Florida, with cities including Orlando, Tallahassee andPensacola, and in Alabama in Tuscaloosa and Birmingham. “The Wisdom of Faith” opens with a heart-rending letter from Bobby Bowden to his family after the loss of his grandson and former son-in-law in a tragic car accident. Following the wisdom Bobby Bowden shares in that letter in the Introduction are chapters covering other important character lessons, including fear, trust, courage, responsibility, humility, patience, discipline, contentment, suffering and love.
Four generations of fans have heard Bobby Bowden’s message and witnessed his results. There are statues erected in his honor and national charities and awards named after him, even a recent baby of a former quarterback now playing in the NFL. Bowden has built a successful career, strong family, and written best-selling books about coaching, but in “The Wisdom of Faith,” Bobby Bowden, who, as he puts it, is in the “fourth quarter” of his life, has a message for us all.

Bobby Bowden is known as much for his affable charm as he is for his championship teams. Having coached young men for seven decades, he is the winningest coach in NCAA Division 1 football history. Bowden guided Florida State University to more than 300 victories, two national championships, 12 Atlantic Coast Conference titles, finishing in the top five in the country in 14 straight seasons, and he also led the FSU Seminoles to bowl games in 28 consecutive seasons during his 34-year tenure. The patriarch of college football’s most famous coaching family, Bowden remains heavily involved in the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, annually awarding The National Bobby Bowden Award to a student athlete for achievement on and off the field, including his conduct as a faith model in the community. Bowden was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 2006. He and his wife of 65 years, Ann, live in Tallahassee, Fla. Bowden was recently in the national spotlight when former Florida State University alum and current NFL quarterback for the Minnesota Vikings, Christian Ponder, and his wife, Sam, had their first child, a baby girl, and named her Bowden.
