English bestseller, When Helping Hurts, released in Spanish: Cuando ayudar hace daño
Nashville, Tennessee (February 2017) — B&H Español, the Spanish imprint of B&H Publishing Group, is proud to announce the release of Cuando ayudar hace daño, the Spanish edition of the bestselling book When Helping Hurts by Steve Corbett and Brian Fikkert (Moody Publishers, June 2009).
With over 400,000 copies sold, When Helping Hurts is a paradigm-changing contemporary classic on the subject of poverty alleviation and ministry to those in need. Co-authors Corbett and Fikkert bring readers to understand that poverty is much more than simply a lack of financial or material resources, and that it takes much more than donations and handouts to heal the brokenness that leads to poverty. Part of Christ’s mission on earth was to preach the gospel to the poor, heal the brokenhearted, and proclaim liberty to the captives—and local churches have the privilege of continuing that mission.
B&H Español is partnering with the Chalmers Center to release Cuando ayudar hace daño: Cómo aliviar la pobreza, sin lastimar a los pobres ni a uno mismo (February 1, 2017). The Chalmers Center, founded by Fikkert in 1999, is an organization that equips churches to walk alongside people who are poor, breaking the spiritual, social, and material bonds of poverty. Cuando ayudar hace daño has been especially adapted for the Spanish market and includes a new introduction by international evangelist Luis Palau.
“My hope is that the key principles [in When Helping Hurts] will prove to be valuable for the powerhouse that is the Hispanic church as it continues to minister the fullness of the gospel,” Corbett said.
Fikkert added, “By God’s grace, When Helping Hurts has reached more churches than I ever imagined possible. I am excited to share the same principles of effective poverty alleviation with Hispanic churches around the world.”
B&H is supporting the release of Cuando ayudar hace daño with influencer outreach, international marketing, and a publicity campaign to key media outlets. For more information, visit www.bhespañol.com.
“B&H Español is pleased to partner with the Chalmers Center to make Cuando ayudar hace daño available to Spanish speakers in the U.S. and abroad,” said Cristopher Garrido, Publisher for B&H Español. “When Helping Hurts has had a huge impact on the way English-speaking Christians think about issues of poverty alleviation, charity, and justice. We pray that Cuando ayudar hace daño can serve and challenge Spanish-speaking Christians in the same way.”
