Nashville, Tenn. (April 2, 2018)—B&H Publishing Group is excited to announce that Ashley Gorman has joined the team as the new women’s publisher.
Gorman joins B&H from Docent Research Group, where she served for two years as a Team Lead and Lead Curriculum Writer. She also served in a variety of roles at The Summit Church in Raleigh-Durham, North Carolina for ten years, including Curriculum Writer, Bible Study Principles teacher, and Women’s Director of Campus Outreach Raleigh.
A graduate of College of Charleston, Gorman has also studied at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary (SEBTS). She graduated from the Charles Simeon Trust program, a biblical literacy program that trains church leaders how to teach proper scriptural interpretation.
Gorman will be leading in the area of strategic book acquisitions for B&H imprint authors, with special emphasis on women’s issues. Additionally, she will cultivate a strong backlist synergy to accompany B&H’s frontlist titles.
“I’m a lover of books, writing, and editing, so I am thrilled to join the B&H team,” Gorman said. “I look forward to working with B&H’s trustworthy authors—amazing women who are serving the Church in her mission of making disciples.”
Gorman co-wrote The Book of Matches (NavPress, 2012) with Alvin Reid and has been published or featured in outlets such as RELEVANT Magazine, the Intersect Project, Women’s Life Blog, the Kingdom Diversity Podcast, the Family-To-Family Support Network Radio Show, and the Called2Action Radio Program.
She also served in a number of leadership roles at SEBTS, including The Society for Women in Scholarship, a Faith and Culture mentorship overseen by the director of the Center for Faith and Culture, partnering with the Kingdom Diversity initiative, and collaborating in SEBTS’s “Wisdom Forum.”
“It’s difficult to find someone with the rare combination of such strong editorial chops and compelling leadership skills,” said Devin Maddox, B&H Trade Book Publisher. “Ashley is theologically sharp, kingdom-focused, and passionate about the Church’s mission. B&H is incredibly fortunate, and we are grateful to God for the opportunity to serve alongside her.”
