Unashamed – The Memoir from Multiple Grammy Award Winner Lecrae Is Now A New York Times Best Seller
NEW YORK, New York. — (May 23, 2016) Behind a massive publicity blitz that included his third performance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and appearances on The Nightly Show on Comedy Central, Kennedy Show on Fox Business News, ESPN’s First Take, Revolt TV, Fox News Radio, ABC News Radio, TBN and several digital outlets such as NBC News, XXL Magazine, Hot New Hip Hop and several others, Lecrae’s highly anticipated memoir, “Unashamed” immediately debuted as a New York Times Best Seller, landing in the Nonfiction category. Lecrae completed a mix of critical press that included national and satellite radio (The Eric Mataxas Show, The Freddie Coleman Show on ESPN Radio and Chris Fabry Live!) and the memoir was featured across the country in daily newspapers such as the New York Times, Atlanta Journal Constitution, Philadelphia Tribune and was the Associated Press Big Story.
IMG_2687 (1)Lecrae also celebrated the release of his memoir with a signings at Barnes & Noble (Tribeca, NYC) and at the #1 book and author event of the year – Book Expo America.
To celebrate the book’s launch, Reach Records discounted Lecrae’s Grammy Award winning album Anomaly at online retailers to $5.99. The discount is still in effect.
And immediately following Lecrae’s book release, his Tedx Talk “Heroes and Villains: Is hip-hop a cancer or cure?” was made available online. The Tedx Talk can be viewed at: https://youtu.be/BFas9cd8ZZ8
The book was made available in-stores and online at popular retailers such as Amazon and iTunes on Tuesday, May 3, 2016. Memoir “Unashamed,” out now, documents the rise of two-time Grammy winning hip-hop artist, cultural icon and community activist despite a lifetime of adversity – childhood abuse, drugs and alcoholism, a stint in rehab, an abortion, and an unsuccessful suicide attempt.
Along his pilgrimage, Lecrae attained an unwavering faith and began looking to God for affirmation. Now as a chart-topping music industry anomaly, he has learned to silence the noise and make peace with his craft. The hip-hop star holds nothing back as he divulges the most sensitive details of his life, answers his critics, shares intimate handwritten journal entries, and powerfully models how to be Christian in an ever-growing secular age.
This is the story of one man’s journey to faith and freedom. And Lecrae dives deep into territory considered taboo for such an artist.
If you live for people’s acceptance, you’ll die from their rejection.” – Lecrae
I had learned to be unashamed in the midst of a fallen world. Now I needed to learn to be unashamed in the midst of a religious world.” – Lecrae
