Session 1: Brokenness [06:37]
This session picks up Louis Zamperini’s story at what you would imagine to be a high point. Assumed dead, abused in a Japanese prisoner-of-war camp, Louis returned home alive. His family rejoiced because their lost son had returned to them. His country lauded him as a hero. Yet when the war ended, Louis’ real battle began. The war wasn’t over just because everyone else said it was. Brokenness has worked into his life and needed to be dealt with.

Session 2: Misplaced Hope [08:19]
In this session, we see a scene from the film where Louis’ wife, Cynthia, gave him a new pair of running shoes, and he began training with his brother. As Louis would soon find out, hope can be a fragile thing. Hope in anything other than Jesus always disappoints. What Louis needed and what we needed is to place our faith in Jesus Christ.

Session 3: Redemption [07:30]
All people who’ve been changed by God have a story. Louis Zamperini’s most incredible quality wasn’t his accomplishments as a track star, his bravery as a soldier, or his endurance as a prisoner of war. His most remarkable quality was that he was a sinner but became a new creation through the shed blood of Jesus Christ. In this session, we see Louis give his life to Jesus Christ.

Session 4: Forgiveness [04:31]
This session focuses on Louis’ incredible act of forgiveness. As the Spirit of God changed Louis, he became convinced that he needed to forgive the men who had wronged him when he was a prisoner of war. In October 1950 Louis traveled to Sugamo Prison in Tokyo, where many Japanese war criminals were held. He knew if he could forgive them, the work Jesus was doing in his life was real.
