NASHVILLE, Tenn (October 16, 2014) – B&H Publishing Group is pleased to announce that over a year after its release, “I Am a Church Member” by Dr. Thom S. Rainer continues to top the CBA Best-sellers list. His follow up book, “Autopsy of a Deceased Church” has also made a strong impact since it’s release this summer, reaching as high as #2 on the list. “I Am a Church Member” was also recognized as “Best of the Best” in the Leaders Outer Life category for the Christianity Today Book Awards this year.
Across the nation, “I Am a Church Member” and “Autopsy of a Deceased Church” have been incredible tools to help the person in the pew understand their role in the church as well as to help the leader understand how to revitalize their church. Both books were based on popular blogs from ThomRainer.com.
I Am a Church Memberjpg“I am humbled by how these books have been used to bear fruit in the church.” Dr. Rainer continued, “These messages were developed by listening to and engaging with pastors and church members from around the country and through many years in ministry. It’s my prayer that they will continue to bear fruit in the form of biblically healthy, self reproducing churches for generations to come.”
Churches across the nation have embraced both books as key resources to help their churches make a greater Kingdom impact in their communities.
This fall, Houston’s First Baptist Church shared on Twitter that they purchased six thousand copies of “I Am a Church Member” to give to their church members and asked followers to pray that God would use it for His Kingdom, which is exactly what has been happening around the country. Erik Reed, pastor of The Journey Church in Tennessee has seen the benefit of using the book in his church, “Going through ‘I Am A Church Member’ has been huge for our church. Our groups have studied the different aspects of what it means to be a healthy member of a church. I’ve received countless statements from congregants on how insightful it has been for them, many committing to praying for me and my family. It will be a resource we give to every new member.”
Also making a significant impact this year has been “Autopsy of a Deceased Church,” which serves as a resource for all pastors and lay leaders seeking to infuse life into their churches. Through actual examples of churches that have died as well as twelve ways leaders can help their church to stay alive, “Autopsy of a Deceased Church” serves as a resource for anyone seeking to revitalize a local church.
Thousands of pastors from all areas of the countries, denominations, and church settings have been reading through “Autopsy of a Deceased Church.” For instance, Kurt Michaelson, senior pastor of Central Assembly of God in Arlington, Texas, has seen the importance of this message and shared on twitter, “Just finished reading ‘Autopsy of a Deceased Church’ by ‪@ThomRainer. A much needed diagnosis for the church I pastor.”
Dr. Thom Rainer will release “I Will: Nine Traits of an Outwardly Focused Christian” with B&H Publishing Group in July 2015. The book will equip readers with nine simple traits that all church members can incorporate into their lives to meet the needs around them.
